...i didnt use the babel to write what i wrote, i can chat german no problems, and write it too...its just the grammer that gets me everytime!!

Im 33 now and i will always say the older you get the harder it is to learn!! maybe its because im lazy, or maybe its just because ive used all my braincells up on other things!! well all 2 of them anyways!!

My little Son Stanley is 3 next week, and he can 100% tell the difference between English and German!! and he does not use Dinglish...he even surprises me!! the wife Sandra has always taught him german and me in english!! this is going to be the best gift i can ever give him!!

...as for talking when im drunk, i normally just shut up and listen!! my tongue and lips fall asleep and so do my braincells...that is coming from too much clubbing in my youth!!

that's not what i presumed... know you know german. and i defo know how you feel about the language situation.... mine's the same and i'm not using babelfish neither... barnett, i like the way you speak german, as i know how uncommon it is for english people to speak different languages. you just don't have to learn them. whereever you go they speak your language...
isn't it a nice broadening of your horizon? learning a foreign language by living in their country teaches you so much about yourself... go on like this, mate. you're doing great...

sounds familiar! mine's speaking german and spanish fluently. same way of doing it. mother talking spanish, father german. now that she lives with a chilean bloke they switched. he's talking spanish and she german. vincent (my son) catches up without problems. and you're right. that is the greatest gift you can give...

sounds even more familiar!!! doesn't matter though... than we just get drunk and remain in silence...

Well, I learned french earlier than my two brothers. If they get drunk or even if they're only a little bit sleepy, they won't know they're talking in the wrong language to somebody... I don't remember ever having this problem.

I've read somewhere the best age to learn a language is between 3 and 5  and it really helps the kids in their future...

Yes, it's the best gift :cheese:

Looks like we are becoming the TheEuroMiniForum!! maybe its time for a name change?? eh Marksmini!! what do you think???

What with the TIJ, IMM and the BrandsHatch 2 Nürburgring!! would be very nice to see all walks of life joining us...the world is very small anyways, and would be great to get them all under one roof...

I love the people on here, they are soooo nice!! TheMiniForum for me is something special, being away from the UK is nice, but i like to keep in touch with fellow Brits...and this is where i do it!!

Thanks everyone!!

Leigh, maybe it should be The International MiniForum! Besides our new Deutsche members (Wilkommen, meine freunde!) and the other Euro members, we have Americans in the UK (welcome, Austin in Bury St Edmunds!), Americans in the US, Canadians, Australians, Malaysians, Pavel in Cyprus, and possibly several other countries represented... at this rate we can hold the IMM in MarksMini's new back garden! (How about that, Mark... get the kettle on!)

hm i think it's better if we use my backgarden (that's not so far driving for me ) an i can get about hm, let's thnk optimistic well 8 tents may be passible

It's nice to know that it's very international here, gives many new ideas and inspriration or answers to any technical trouble (though my technical english vocabular does not exist yet ) or just some nice smalltalk as it develops here

Brands hatch 2 Nürburgring, hm, it's too far away from Hamburg for my budget to get there - well, somewhere in the future i'll meet some english minis - i hope
