Who are currently going through CEOs very quickly, and have laid off half their workforce and put back the launch of their 'S' model. Niggles aside, I really do hope they come through, because it does look great, has fantastic performance and has been designed with the help of Lotus, so you know it'll handle!
Also, that Mini doesn't have that bad a spec, 0-60 in something like 8.5s, and a half decent top speed. 150 mile range, uses regenerative braking systems to increase its range, can even be recharged in about 2 hours (which isn't bad for an electric car).
To be honest, I don't know why people give electric cars such a hard time. Yes, the previous attempts have been pretty rubbish, but we're starting to see cars that are actually pretty good. And at least its a step in the right direction. Near zero emissions, doesn't need an infrastructure putting in place (which would costs billions for the likes of Hydrogen fuel cells) as it is already in place. The cost of running one of these cars (day to day) will be a fraction of the cost of petrol or diesel. Yes the batteries need to be replaced every few years, but as these cars become more mainstream the cost of replacing them should come down significantly, and with modern cars only have a lifespan of about 10 years, you should only need to do this once or twice whilst you own the car!

GM made a working, recharging, good performing full electric car, the EV1, 12 years ago. Before they were released the execs at GM (realizing there are trillions of dollars still to be made in pumping oil) decided they were only to be leased and will not provide a buy out option. After the leases were up, they collected all the cars and crushed them for scrap metal, and concentrated on selling more SUV's.
plus BMW made 500 of those only to conform with California law that auto makers must provide zero emissh vehicles.
someone should reverse engineer the disney movie Flubber, so we can be driving hover cars, seriously.
or the Wrightspeed X1 aka electric atom

170mpg according to the license plate, and we all know license plates never lie.
wait a minute...are the tyres the right way around?

Just for those who think Electric cars are pants...
...here's a Pant wettingly gorgous one...
just google 'Tesla'

i work for toyota,
and all i can say about the prius is, its *rubbish*.
where they mine the materials for the batteries is used as a testing area for the mars lunar rover thingies because the local environment has been completely wiped out.
and prius` arent that economical you could probably get more mpg from a diesel driving in exactly the same manner.
plus what a lot of people dont realise is if you drive a lot of motorway miles its even worse for the environment because the battery and motors wiegh twice as much as me, so they are effectively lugging round two of me in the rear seats.
the only good thing about it is the regenerative braking.
i hope they cant figure out who i am and fire me
