am i the only one thinking WHY ARE YOU GUMA BREAK IT OVER THAT SHORT MOT FAILIER LIST.
sorry but did you think a mini would pass a mot when its been stood 2 years +.
i wish all my mini needed for a mot was 2 sills and a gaiter.
not being funny but its well worth keeping.ask friends or friends of a friend, you should be able to find some one that can weld for you.
your mini could be ready for a mot in a weekend.
there are people on this site that have well, rebuilt there minis including me. whole new floors, loads of new panels, resprays. ect. costing £1000's
sorry for ranting but its well worth fixing. there only small things to be honest.

hi an understand the rant. i bought the car as it was too nice looking to sit in the hedge it was in. while i can do some mech work myself, welding is something i cannot do. My main car is a 540 v8 BMW so it was bought to lower the costs of travel etc. while i did know it would need work and didnt exoect it to pass MOT (i am not that stupid/synical) i didnt expext the amount of work. it was a gamble i took when buying it. I do have to be realistic tho and have tried to be honest and ask the best options and help. i would love to keep the car as it was for me and my young lady to use. i repeat i would love to keep it but ihave to look into work required and who and importantly cost. i dont have 1000's to spend on the car or the workshop to do the welding. my garage already has 2 bikes in (mmmmmmmmmmmm biiiikes). i have had a quote of £350+ for the welding and that coupled with the other stuff needed has made me ask what to do!
i am geniunly wanting to do it but have to weigh ll up!
rant reply over!
HEEEELP PLEEASE!!

£350 to do two sills and a boot sounds pretty good to me.

you could cut that price down even more by cutting the old ones off and tidying the area, possibly mock fitting the replacement panels, would save tons on the labour cost

just imagine no boot floor and 1 sill rotten, the other sill will prob be the same!
i can sell the car to someone who wants to take over the project! it runs and drives great!
