I've only managed to get 23.5 litres in mine. That gets me about 140 miles.

The fuel gauges are terrible, so I stick a bit of Bamboo in the filler neck to see how much go-juice I have left.

Its a funny thing, i let my tank go down to just over the red part, then tanked full with only 14l...

Id love to run my tank down as far as i possibly can, but knowing my luck id run out of petrol on the motorway, here in germany that a real serious offense!! maybe loss of licence for 4 weeks and points and fine...

i still think ive got about Max 20l tank, my tank goes from the side of the car just past the first boot hinge!!

If you really wanted to try it you could always just have one of those little red tanks with the silly hoses on in your car  is it really worth it?

barnett...

this 5l reserve petrol cans are really cheap.
buy one, fill it up, drive until your car stops, put 5l in, drive to nearest petrol station, fill complete car up, add both figures up, drive home, put the reserve can into the garage, problem solved...

hope that helps... :cheese:

But one thing isnt illegal to carry petrol in Germany??

This thread has been long winded, but ive had some great help!! sound a silly thread but its been bugging me for a while...

I only drive really on the motorway, my house is just 1km from motorway and so is work, so i mainly drive at 4000rpm,( 160kmh ) and the tank empties as quick as i fill her up!! and driving on 13´s aswell makes her even more thirsty!!

Can anyone post up a picture of their tank and say what it holds, and then i can see!! maybe i have a custom coke can for a blooody petrol tank!! whoooops can i say " Blooooody " well we will have to wait and seeee!!

Carp do inhabit the bottom of Mini tanks, like all tanks. But you do have do work hard to suck the carp into the engine because the fuel is taken from above the bottom. Even on the pre-injection cars this is the case, if you look into an empty tank (don't go and be stupid and throw a match in or something) you can just see a bar in the bottom, this is the fuel pickup. It's a good inch off the bottom of the tank and so there is plenty of room for carp to swim about harmlessly. Although if you do have a lot of carp they will go up the pipe, but this is not a function of how low the fuel gets, just how old the tank is.

If your tank comes out as far as the first hinge then it is the 34l tank.

Yes, fuel gauges are poo (or carp...). The issue is that the gauge resistor is linear but the cross section of the tank isn't. Designing a resistor which varies with the tank size costs a fortune so they never bothered.

Is this Koi Carp?! Should I start feeding mine? I've never fed mine before so they might already be dead, should I replace them in this eventuality?!

Koi carp, did you not know? They live in our fuel tanks, and if your don't have enough petrol in your tank you can kill them!
