Kaspersky is the best the anti virus I have used fast, thorough and picks up just about anything. Only problem is you have to pay for it ;)

The reason that your internet may be freezing is that your cookies and cache may need clearing, out of interest what browser you using?

I am using Firefox ;)

I cleared it out not so long ago, and did the usewell maintencatce, like de-frag etc.

It sometime happens when loading up TomTom too, just freezes as its loading something up. I have a "CPU" gadget, and I can see, I am not over working the PC or anything..

I just want something that will actually just dystory whats not meant to be in my PC! AUG has been good in the past, but I just don't think its as good as it was. Plus its decided to stop updating now, which is annoying too.

I don't mind payiong for a Anti-Virus, as long as its not stupid prices!

If you are willing to pay i would say Kaspersky or McAfee.

For free then i would go for Avast! (which is what i use)

Hiya
I use McAfee and have done for years, got it on both my machines. One running with xp and the other running with vista ultimate x64 and it keeps my systems healthy.
I have used AVG, Kaspersky, Bullguard, Norton and NOD 32 and to be honest I always come back to McAfee, knowing I will have trouble free systems.

No doubt about it Kaspersky is the best. I think the freezing has more to do with Vista! It doesn't take well to lower-powered computers, especially if you don't have a decent amount of RAM or a CPU with a high(ish) FSB. I'll stop boring you now! lol. But would recommend removing any unnecessary programs.

Lol thats cause your doing a full scan with Avast but it may be you were only doing a quick scan with AVG

Ive used AVG for years now combined with Windows firewall and ive had windows defender since its beta was first released. Have never had a single problem ever in the last 4 years?

However i am still running XP pro so i would be inclined to think that the problems your having with AVG at the moment are Vista related?

All i can say is bring on Windows 7 then we can discard Vista as a huge white elephant, just as we did with windows millenium!

the spec of this PC is:

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (2.4Ghz). 3Gb DDR2 RAM. 1Tb (1000Gb) SATA hard drive. 19in LCD monitor with 8m response rate. DVD+/-RW double layer. Nvidia GeForce 8400GS graphics card. 52-in-1 card reader. Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium.

Unless anyone knows where I can get the offical spec from the PC?

AVG is great. It picks up everything for me, and isn't bloated like some other anti virus programs (Norton for example).
