right this is my project on what i expect will empty my bank account but i hope not lol

right my project will be a suzuki 750cc gsxr engined go kart i know it sounds crazy but its better then putting a 1300 hayabusha engine on it isnt it lol

well i got a non running suzuki 750 which was a xmas pressie lol
Attached File  smaller.gif   98.41K   31 downloads

and i cant use it till i am 21 and motorbike arnt any good unless there smaller then a 5 year olds bike

the first picture was it when i got it not running and really bad electrics and bit hanging off it dont look at all safe on here anyway does it lol

the second picture was after about 30 minutes tinkering with my dad who is in the picture it worked which surprised me and him because it had not been started in to years and we hadnt cleaned the carbs just bought a new battery and injected fresh petrol down the carbs oh and spray lynx down the carbs because i could not find cold start it works the same and smells nice

it finally started the lynx ignited and fueled with the stand off in the carb mouths large balls of fire where expelled and then a large flame and rusty stuff from the exhaust hit me because it didnt have the exhaust can on at the time

the exhaust can was massive as you can see in the picture and i preped ahead and got thinking is there anyway to shorten it
look around the internet and yes there was which i done

picture will be in the thread below

i think you should make a bar stool racer :D

that would be awsome, but deadly :P

Cant wait to see progress, this is my sorta thing

Ive had a run in a gsxr 1000 kart last year and i can say it was immense, its getting fixed atm though

well i have already started making progress there is a video of it on youtube with the shortened exhaust can link at bottom of this post

have a problem at the moment though it wont turn over i cut alot of wires i thought wasn't need and now i dont no what one was needed so i have to sort that out i am going to try and get 180 bhp from the bike when it is done and maybe go along the nitrous root aswell it will certainly be at santa pod i dont really want it to just before go kart tracks i hope to try and make it into a hill climber but do they have to be road legal vehicles? or is there any regulations

That's going to be a right handful in a go kart...

Space is going to be tight; it’s bad enough in a mini let alone a cart.

I suppose you could hang the diff and carrier off the back.

Now are you going to use a diff or just have the output chain linked straight to a sprocket turning the drive shafts at the same rate?

You can’t just throw components together.

Before you can even start you need to think about:

gears
clutch
brakes (you wont be able to run inboard brakes on the back any more)
Electrics
Drive transfer
chain tensioning.

There is a whole load of other stuff that I can’t quite remember, but then again it is half 7 in the morning.

i am going to make it so the chain is linked straight to a sprocket that turns the rear axle

gears: sort of thought up a idea and its only on paper at the moment but it should be good enought
clutch: yes i was going to use the handle grip clutch from the bike
brakes: going to use the exsist front brakes from the go kart and use the hydrolic brake from the rear of the bike on the rear axle
Electrics: bare minimum all that is need is already with the bike
Drive transfer: with kart already
chain tensioning: will be shortening the chain and gaining tension by moving the engine away from the axle

What Chassis Are you using, a TKM would be good for this.

is the clutch cable operated?

what im worried about is that your going to use the sproket on the existing engine to run 120odd bhp thu.

not going to stay in a stright line exiting corners, with the short wheel base expect it to spin around.

you will need a diff or some kind.

look at westgarages and thier mini diff setup.

i am going to use the sprockets from the bike and use them to turn the rear axle i havent really decided what chassis yet cheapest is the best atm want to do it for under 200 pound i got the engine for free

electrics atm are very tricky and it wont start as i said earlier but i will just have to keep working

what do you mean go around a corner lol

u have 3 choices
1, dont try and go off corse into some tress
2, use the engines power to make it slide around the corner
3, or go slow in and fast out and try not to spin

but they all get better with practise

http://howstuffworks.com/

The wheel base is too short, it will just spin out all the time regardless of how you handle a normall kart, they have 3 bhp. not 100-130.
