but the answer is...

When you drive in with your nice little Mini 1000 daily runner, do you want to be driving out with something which is more appropriate to the track ??

No, you want to be driving out in your nice little Mini 100 which has been tuned and fit for purpose which is a daily driver.

In the tuners defence however, if this has not been communicated to him then nobody is right or wrong.

The crankcase vent pipe is connected down stream of the carb so won't gunge it much at all. Hif carbs also have thermostatic jet mechanisms, but should be less temperamental than a HS Waxstat. Removing vac advance is all well and good to plot optimum centrifugal advance. But a bit pointless - unless you are going to modify the dizzy you can only set centrifugal advance spot on at one point on the rev range.

But he didnt diconnect the vaccum advance, the guy who started this thread got confused, it was the breathers that were disconnected.
Yes he may have tuned a bit more for the track, but to be fair im a stereotypical 18 year old and do push my car a little on the road. :)
But yes a nice little mini 1000 runaround proably shouldnt be tuned for the track. But it suits e to the ground, and to be fair when i arrived
at his place he did ask what sort of driving I do.
