I'd not hold your breath, you may be best on ebay or minispares.

I gave them my reg after a dizzy cap and rotor arm, the guy didn't even know how to spell Wolseley, so it took a while, they could get me spark plugs or an oil filter but nothing else...

The guy at the parts counter asked me which manufacturer TVR would be under the other night. :D

I'm not expecting this to be an easy experience!!

Normally I wouldn't bother, but I've come into £200 of vouchers in lieu of real money, so will be persistant!!

Car isn't going anywhere for a while so a wait isn't a problem.

Still thanks to you all for your help.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Dealer parts counters will ask for reg or chassis plate..

Motorfactors won't they will not have a database which holds all reg's and the associated parts specifications of that vehicle, if they did it would be massive and just be an unproductive computerised system...

So they do it by vehicle type...

Last time I bought a mini headgasket from Halfords they couldn't find it till I gave them the reg no of an old mini of mine to cross referance the part with, job done.

To be fair to them they had in stock and it £8 for a full kit and saved me a lot of hassle

Most part suppliers seem to want the reg no nowadays.

I think it's to do with all the extra options and parts on modern systems.

The Ford system is amazing when you delve into it, there are over a million possible forms for you to buy your transit in - try doing that by model type.
Essentially reg no or chassis number and you can get full build spec with all comments and alerts. date, part numbers, dealer modifications and service history, etc. etc...
