The Lucas 29D4 distributor on my 1974 clubman is on its last legs, and
Is this a good idea?

And does the bosch fit directly on like the last one did, or will i have to make any other changes?

Thanks

[/q i was thinking of replacing it with a Bosch instead.

I have never seen a Bosch Distributor for a Mini. here in Australia we have the 25D4, 43 and 45D4 and the 29D4. Unless you want to keep the car original I have Brand new modified Pulsar type distributors which are Electronic of course. see my ad here http://miniownersclu...t...1&Itemid=28
Cheers.

Like the Hitachi, the Bosch distributor wasn't designed for the A-series, it's only been suggested as an alternative.

I never determined which Bosch might fit. The information from Marcel Chichak suggested BMW donors. The 1600/2002 used points and the later distributors were very different looking and I think they turn the "wrong" way. That only leaves the early 3-series distributors. Once I got my Hitachi setup I never looked back at which Bosch might be made to work.

i was having a look at an Alfa Gtv2000 Distributor Last nite. Its also a Bosch and the fittings are the same as a A series
but as it turns out, it has 40 deg centrifugal advance and 7 deg vacuum.
It has to be set at something like -3 deg Static.
