I'm in the dark where MJ is concerned so just improving my knowledge

Don't worry I am too, the main this I have gathered so far is, that it is easier to advance/retart ignition, easy to re-map, will start and run better, easier to set up, and at the end of the day, if you decide to change you engine, it can be swapped over to the other one. Am I right all?

See thats the bit why I ask

I'm running 998 stage 1, Aldon ignitor plus lucas sports coil, now that cost about £85 for the coil and Ignitor. And appart from the mapping bit, It starts first time, runs like a dream, gives good mpg and touch wood hasn't let me down in 2 yrs of daily driving, motorway speeds and more no problem, seen about 95 mph on the clock.

So what you asking again lol?

If your car runs fine, then you don't really need to upgrade.

I guess thats the question ha ha

Why go to all the trouble and extra expense of MJ on a 998 when for a lot less hassle you can fit something like an Aldon Ignitor for £70 or even the Britpart electronic conversion £12 inc p&p :w00t: both straight bolt on conversions

I wasn't planning on fitting it, but curious why people go the MJ route on a 998, or are we talking something more heavily modified than a Stage 1 when the benefits might become more apparent ??

I guess really you would need back to back comparisons, with like and like cars with only difference being the ignition side.

It can really be put on anything, but the reason I am thinking of putting one on mine, is because mine will be, well I suppose you can say heavily modded, so I want the power to control everything.

I think the thing is that with a MJ setup (or similar) you can map the ignition perfectly, so that all through the rev-range your ignition timing is spot on. If you add a few upgrades, you can easily change the map to alter the timing slightly and make the most of your mods. The other good thing about it is there is no moving parts (eg points) so you know that when you set it all up, in a years time, it will be exactly the same.

Im no expert, but thats the way i understand it

Just to make absolutly sure, is it perfectly and works perfectly, to use a megajolt set up on a carb running mini? Just a little doubt I have in the back of my mind.

That's what it's made for - the MJ by itself can't run an injection system. If you want that, you've got to go with a MegaSquirt.
