you need to know thw CFM of the gun and get a compressor which has a higher CFM rate, if you are using an air
respirator then this will also have to be taken into account.

this is mine

this just copes with an hvlp gun and a respirator.

why does the compressor tank need to be so big if the cfm on the compressor is larger than the cfm of the HVLP gun

and does the HVLP gun give as good a finish as a normal gun

thanks again for your comments

hvlp means - high volume low pressure. more paint with less pressure, lower pressure
reduces overspray = less wasted paint = less pollution.

the compressor needs a higher cfm so it always has more air in than the spray gun can
use, therefore the gun wont run out of air.

basically.

But why do you need such a big tank on the compressor could i not use a 12cfm compressor with a 25 litre tank if my spray gun only needed 5cfm to opperate

thanks

the gun draws off the tank, i think a large tank also allows the air
to stabalise, the higher cfm pump keeps the tank full, in an ideal world
the pump should be able to fill the tank and stop while air is being drawn.

another thing i would look at is putting an in line filter dryer right before your paint gun. It will remove any moisture that is in the air before it goes through your gun and mixes with your paint.

right i got sorted with a compressor its a sip workshop 150 litre (and it is huge) 150psi 15cfm which should be plenty

and i only paid £120 for it used 10-20 times to inflate truck tyres (guy advertised it poorly on ebay)

question now is what spray gun should i purchase and what needle sizes should i use for what coat

planning on spraying 2K and have a filtered mask with air feed but battery powered so no loss of flow

idealy try candy apple red

any suggestions

andy
