This topic makes for an interesting read and is making me think about what oil I should've put in my Mini... trouble is everyone swears by different things. I'm getting the general impression though that synthetics are bad for Minis and mineral oil is for some reason better.

All this cobblers about mineral lube and synthetic lube. ;)

Friction wears mating faces.
Friction transfers energy into heat energy that could be going to your wheels.

Synthetic lube is a better lube then mineral lube. Simple.

One disadvantage of it being such a good lube is that well it doesn’t let the rings bed in after a rebuild.

So straight after a build run it for 100 miles on mineral then straight onto the synthetic with a new oil filter.

But synthetic is bad news for the Minis baulk ring synchros. Surely everyone knows that?
