Hi

How good is this DVD "ULTIMATE MINI BUILDER DVD - 100BHP 1380 A-SERIES BUILD"? I have basic mechanical knowledge but I have not build an entire engine from scratch. Would this DVD be of any help?

Cheers

Syed

Wouldnt mind getting this DVD.

I noticed a few comments about people that built similar spec engines using this DVD but 2upgraded" certain parts... I understand there will always be preferential parts the builder would rather use but is any of it because there is a part available nowadays that perhaps wasn't when the DVD was made? What bits would people recommend over the parts used in this DVD, and why?

Thanks

Ultimate Builder is a great dvd. :)

If you want something cheaper and for a more basic rebuild only then this Frost dvd is ok also:

I bought it at Bingley in January, still haven't unwrapped it yet lol.

Only gonna be doing a 998, but i'll use it more for referance than anything else.

Yes its definitely worth a watch. I just had my laptop in the garage with me, building my engine up. Worth for any engine really, 1380 or not.

So what parts of the engine built would people change if they were building it, and why?
or would you stick to the recommended set up?

The recommended setup is pretty good really for a solid road engine. It'd just be the budget and preferences of the owner really.

Its just things like the cam really, the SW5 is good, but you can put in something much more... Firey and still have a usable road engine. Then for the ignition, i've chosen megajolt over an aldon dizzy, but really like I said its mainly personal preference.

Theres nothing that he fits that you'd think 'why did he do that'
