Great forum! I wonder if anyone can help me please....
I drive a 2000(X) Cooper 1.3i. It runs great but occasionally at low speed/revs I get a misfire and kangaroo (especially in a traffic jam) I have fitted new plugs and leads and had it checked over at the garage but they can't find anything wrong.
The other day I pulled the leads off in turn to check that all cylinders were working OK and I noticed I got a lower spark and electric shock from 2 of the leads..... Could I have a dodgy DIS?
Any help and advice would be much appriciated.
Cheers, Mike

have you tried the usual cap rotor arm leads, other than that could be loads of things wiring/sensors/injectors/vacum leak/ecu.
ask on injection specific forum bet they could help.

Correct! - No distributor, the plug leads just plug onto a black box called a "Distributorless Ignition System (DIS) Module", I don't know what is inside this. My Haynes manual says it has two coils each serving two plugs but I'm not sure if there is other stuff in there that does the job of the good ol' points in a dizzy or whether this signal comes from the ECU . Does anyone have the answer?
I'm thinking that as my low spark is on two plugs the DIS may be faulty but at £70 odd I would like to know a bit more before I swap black boxes.
Cheers, Mike
