Im having a simular problem with my heater, it used to blow hot but now it just blows cold, ive felt the pipes which go into the heater and these are hot, but even when the knob is pulled out it wont blow hot. :s

What year is your Mayfair? Because up until the 1990's you had to push the heater knob in for heat (out for cold).

Further to my heater problems, does the pipe from the heater tap on the cylinder head go to the upper or lower
connection on the heater? The water is hot in the engine but cold in the heater... any help appreciated!

Well according to the Somerford Minis pdf's, it goes to the lower connection: -

But have you tried replacing the thermostat yet?

Hi, yes put new thermostat in and connections to heater are correct as Somerfords pdf (thanks for that).
It just wont seem to circulate the water to the heater.
Flushed the heater and radiator but still no joy

Have you checked the cable is actually opening the heater tap on the head? Perhaps it needs adjusting or replacing?

Can you feel warmth from the pipe running from the heater tap beneath the bonnet?

Maybe there's an air-lock?

So take your radiator cap off, make sure the heater tap is open and then start your engine. Let it idle until the coolant starts to bubble over and then replace the radiator cap.

This should hopefully clear any air-locks.
