But I was a bit optimistic with the figures I think, its probably closer to 7000 - 9000 depending on type of running
Motorway runs I get 50 mpg, round town probably high 30's - 40's

Another thread here http://www.theminifo...=unleaded year
The last bits interesting apparently a "green" pack was offered so some pre 1989 cars could be unleaded

We are talking standard cars here though there could be pre 1989 cars which have been converted since.

when do u no if you need an octane boost with the lead replacement ?
If, on unleaded fuel, your car pings under load, (low rpm, high gear uphill is the classic case) and it doesn't ping with super unleaded or higher octane fuel, then you need super unleaded or octane boost. Don't buy super unleaded unless your car needs it for this reason, as it is only super by having an increased octane rating. Buying super when your car has been timed and set up on regular unleaded is wasting your money.

I fill up at Sainsbury's where i work with LRP
I've heard that LRP is unregulated rubbish?
You're better off using unleaded with an additive instead. Or get the head converted.

Yep it's not likely to have any additive in that replaces the function of tetraethyl lead. Best to use unleaded with an additive.

Saying that though, how resulated is pouring in some additive with soem fuel. Do you exactly measure the weight of each that you put in? I'd suspect the LRP would be much more controlled!

There's just no knowing what exactly is in LRP though. You're just paying extra for unleaded fuel with god knows what added and there's no proof that it's going to do your classic any good in the long term.
