Hello all,

I have a 998cc original engine. I have found a 1275 in a very cheap price, but the law dont allow me changing to 1275 from 998

People from the mini club in my country told me that i can have more power than a 1275 cooper S engine with some mods (without turbo). I was wondering what mods are needed if this is possible

Also i am thinking of the tuning kit stage 1 from minisport. Should i go for stage 2? will this give me such power? or do i need stage 3?

If you want more power than a 1275 then you'll be looking at stage 3.

You'll be looking at stage 1 kit (exhaust system, manifolds and high flow filter) a cooper or 1275cc cylinder head (1275 head rerquires pockets to be cut into the block) and a fairly lairy camshaft. That should be good enough to see you on your way to about 60bhp (maybe more depending on head) once the engine has been set up on a rolling road to work properly with the mods.

unfortunatetly i dont have the same luck in order to get a 1380 in my country i must change to 1098, then to 1275, 1293 etc etc. And each time you change engine you have to wait for a year i think, and then change again..... lol i know it sounds silly but its the law!
