Got a K&N in the shed that I will put on. The thing I like about the pipercross is that they are so easy to clean.

Maybe its worth checking your timing? See if you had a backfire that caused it to detonate while the inlet valve was still open?

Timing is spot on, it goes really well when warmed up, but was coughing and spluttering when it happened because it was cold.

A mate has got a fire extinguisher setup in his Pug 205 that is quite nifty:
Its a small portable one, mounted on the passenger side of the tunnel, with a hose on the nozzle running through the bulkhead to a spray over the motor. If he needs it inside the engine bay then he just pulls the trigger, else if a fires in the cab then he can rip off the hose and use it normally! Only cost about £20 for the whole setup!

K&N every time, besides I live in the land of K&N, so if my local stockist haven't got it, they will by the afternoon. :smartass:

Yeah pipercross foam cone type. Thinking about it, it's pretty dodgy at the best of times. Foam, soaked in oil, just above a hot manifold...

Time for some exhaust wrap?
