I wonder what's actually underneith it all, seeing as it's more than likely to be cobbled together from other cars. Looks horrible which ever way you look at it though. I do hope it fails miserably when people dont buy them, maybe it's a good thing we're in an economic crisis.

that is ugly! but old news... as somebody said its the concept from September, the real thing is arriving early 2010.

ferrit, that's one of the concepts for the Clubman, if you remember back they did a different concept for all the major international motor shows, and then finally released the Clubman at the end of it! but, the concepts were a nice design, yet the final result was ugly.

So, if the concept for the Crossover is ugly, surly that means the real thing is going to be extra ugly??

to be brutaly honest, and don't stone me for this I dont particularly mind any of the new Mini designs when I see them on the road. The SUV is fugly but I kind of like quirky looking cars. Would I buy one? I doubt it. Is it a Mini, no and never will be. But it will probably be a safe and capable soft roader.

I love the idea of a soft-roader. Sums it up in one - large and road-clogging without the usefulness of a real 4x4 (even though only a few are actually used off road!).

To be fair most soft roaders dont have a footprint any bigger than a family sized estate car but are somewhat taller. Engine wise most are no less efficient than any other modern car. 4x4 wise they are never going to be proficient off road but then again how many people use the 4x4 capabilities of proper off roaders, not many would be my guess. I think I would rather see a soft roader on the road than a proper 4x4 that has never seen mud.

Can I ask why?? >_< Surely it makes no difference, my Dad has a 4x4 which has not seen mud, but he likes and it thats all that matters.

to be honest I really really don't like that new mini thing butt ugly.

Of course you can ask - Smaller dimensions on the road, smaller over all weight therefore less road wear, smaller more efficient engines typically 1.8 - 2 lt not the 2.8 - 3 litre and above of proper off roaders. Less likey to cause the same amount of damage to pedestrians or other vehicles in the event of a crash. Usually more built in safety features etc.

Please dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with propoer 4x4 vehicled being on the road and I myself drive on of these on a daily basis. Its all about the need to have one. Mine is used to lug tools and materials as well as the family and I regularly get it dirty. I do have problems with Q7s and Range Rovers that do little more than go from home to School to Tesco and back

Captainjack it’s not for me to say what cars people can drive or what they do with them. Everyone makes their own decisions as to whether they feel justified in driving a large 4x4. If I could get away without driving my great big thing I probably would do, I dread to think what my motor would do to a small car or God forbid a pedestrian in an accident.

That said I love it as a vehicle, it's a piece of cake to drive, I feel safe for myself and my family (although this can be a false sense of security) and it’s super versatile (use it as an MPV, a van and a camper)
