Does the internal amp in the head unit switch off or should there be an option in the menus?

Yes there connected through the a standard ISO connection. The head unit powered the 4 four speakers before I fitted the amp and it worked fine.
Have you tried altering the front/rear set up to give more power to the front. As you have an amp on the rear, they will be REALLY loud in comparison to the front, so even when you hear the back clear, the front may be not "getting enough Juice " for you to hear them !! Just a thought.

you can run 4 speakers AND amps if you want to.
have you tried connecting the speaker directly into the iso connector on the h/u? (just hold wires in pin holes) and see if it works.
if not it sounds like you may have goosed the HU.

Just wondering if anyone has fitted two 8" subs into a speaker board? I'm hoping to do this over the christmas holidays if its possible.
Thanks

Speaker board as in parcel shelf? saw a load of speakers in there, i am not 100% sure (not say they will or wont) that two 8" subs will fit in there comforably...

I have 2 vibe 6x9's set up for bass, but they wern't great so I wired up a 10" sub today at college and the sound is so much better. The plan is to keep the back seats and a free boot by fitting 2 8" subs under the seats in a speaker board. Has anyone else done this? I know its a tight as the board is only 8" high.

Havn't done space test or anything, but it will only need slight adjustments for it to fit.
