Although it looks as though Buckley will loose out to Burke, I still find it impressive that it is up to number 2. Which one do you guys prefer and have you or considered buying either version?
I love the Buckley version and I get the pimples every time I hear it, and I'm just so happy that this great song has another chance to shine. I don't dislike the Burke version...but it lacks something for me...

Leonard Cohen (who wrote it) said that it was the best cover of it he'd heard and that was pretty much how he wished he could do itWasn't Buckleys veriosn voted best sung song of all time? Anyway, I don't think the xfactor one is a bad song, 'cause the girl can sing but it lacks the emotion of the Buckley version. You really believe him when he sings it.

That may have been it. I've not heard the original, I will try to find it later on I think.

Totaly agree with this.
On the original topic
I cannot understand why people buy cover versions of songs that either dont improve on earlier versions or put a different slant on them. Staid rehashes of previously good songs is just pointless, like the Leona Lewis cover of Snow Patrols "Run" what a waste of time. I dont even like Snow Patrol but its their version is better than some warbling soul style rehash.
Yes they can all sing very nicely, but please get some writters and sing some songs of your own. All they are doing is regurigitating the same carp covers I have spent ages trying to avoid on by not watching Simon Cowells personal marketing show on the telly.

I believe its known in the industry as auto-tune!

Because people get sucked into this hyped up, over priced, mockery of a so called talent show and because someone won it a few people decide to go and buy the single and then the sheep follow suit. not that i've anything against these shows!I don't get why every X factor single automatically becomes the fastest selling single in the world ever?!
