i chained both my mini shells together and then to the floor when i went away on holiday. they were also both covered.

if nothing else, it makes it a little harder to steal, rather than just picking it up. at least someone may have noticed if something strange was happening.

seems they like comping over and eyeing up all my bits. i think its stupid i have to chain everything down to stop someone disappearing with it.

so yer, even if they do cut the chains, at least its harder than dragging it away, and it gives you a chance to get the bat that you hide behind the front door.....(very useful!!!!)

good luck keeping your bits safe!!

Low Tech - High Noise solution - hang a load of bells inside the shell.
Anyone messes with it and they get spooked at least...
If you have power in the garage those infra red lights are dirt cheap these days.

In the end though, you've got to take it inside because it's only a matter of time before ANYTHING
you leave out and about is lifted by some light fingered toe rag.

I used to work as a decorator and while doing a job for the local council we removed a truly rancid
and disgusting old 1950s toilet from a house where an old fella had died. We took it out to the front garden (gloves, masks, the lot)
and while we fitted the new one someone had it away with the rancid bowl !
Thus proving that people will actually steal s**t if it's easy enough.

Best wishes
Monty

Oh i see the Gypos are out in force again this year!
you'll probably be fine now, they tend to start stealing around now in a heavy way, to fund presents for the offspring, and mainly small things like tools or small bits of metal..like car panels, that can easily scraped with out identification or sell in a pub.
As some of you know last year around this time we got robbed by them, and they stole all sorts of equipment and tools and made a nice job of the door aswell! luckily the mini was not touched.
I would reccomend calling the police on this one, we did and gave them any suspicious number plates, they infact did some patroling in the area and dealt with the whole situation very well, nothing but praise!

Make sure you get a beefy padlock... otherwise they'll just come along with bolt cutters and have it away. If there is anything a bit more permanent in your garage that you can chain it to then use that, like like in our lockup we have wooden joisty type things on the ceiling that you could whip a chain around. A friend has a hook concreted into her driveway which she chains her bike to, but I guess that's not really possible in your case? Having bells inside the shell is genius, the more noise it makes the more it'll put them off it.

hang some bells inside the shell mate, then cover it so you cant see it, at my work we used to have some scally nicking post from the letter box, so we left a power fulll rat trap inside one day. next time we opened it it had gone off and the letters where full of blood :xmas: :xmas:

Being honest you don't sound that fussed that parts have gone missing.. even a mouldy old banana skin going missing from my car and id be livid... If i were you i would of rung the police the first time it happened and rung them again for each item gone missing.. Then they would have to listen!
Have you even rung them yet? :xmas:
