This is a very simple drawing of a really basic digi speedo/revs for fitting in the big centre speedo hole, and could be any colour you want - whats that a pink rev counter - no problem

What does a mini engine rev to, and what is the redline on them? does it vary between the differnt engine sizes/model available for the minis? (im talking standardish, eg not bike engines etc)

My TIM tacho shows to 8000rpm, but I only ever take the mini to 5k at the max, and then only in second gear. I have the red-line set at 4,500, which is where I change up in first and third (when i'm on a rag)
Mine's a 1.3i.....
MK4's quoted in handbook as 6k redline.

I have some software that allows you to build dash gauges and any other gauge then export them to a .net application but I haven't a clue what to do with them then. I want to build them into an application that runs on a PDA or small car PC and use that as my dashboard. Any help would be appreciated and I will happily share my work with you.

If your using a car PC i can help you out with programming it, and physically connecting it to your mini (eg the speed pickup, revs, temp etc). But mounting it would be up to you, im crap at stuff like that

Thanks for the offer, I may well take you up on it. What I really need is a software developer to help with the software to run the gauges. Then I would need some sort of instant booting PC or a PDA that can run an external monitor for the software to run on. I like the idea of a car PC but waiting for it to boot before driving off would become a bind very quickly. I suppose a laptop in suspend mode may work though. The software is Instrumentation Model Kit from Perpetuum Software, it looks good but I haven't a clue how to use it. I think it could be a financial winner if it were developed into a product and could be used for any car.
Website here.
Thanks
Jon
