You need to use a lubricant on it. Don't use washing up liquid and water, it's full of salt. Use a little liquid hand soap in water or a silicon spray. You need to keep pushing along the channel, not down into it. The guide is just to spread the channel so keep it moving forward. It's about the angle you hold it at.

Just been back and read that you don't have the tool. You can't slide the seal along, you have to keep spreading the seal and push the strip down into the gap. Get the tool, seriously. Even the best ones are only £12.00 or so.

Where can you get the one with the roller for £12.00?? At frost it's a rip-off price!

Moss one is near £20 and does come with the roller, despite what the pics on the website show.
I would highly recommend it.

Definately invest in a roller type. One of the most useful tools I have.

Actually I did get mine from Frost. I don't remember it being £22.00 but maybe they give me a discount or something. I still wouldn't call £22.00 a rip off for such a useful tool. Without the roller tool, trying to bodge your way through the job it can take literally hours to force your way around the screen and you run the constant risk of slipping and scratching the paint or the glass. Any dents or puckers you make in the rubber doing this don't heal, they stay there forever. With the tool it takes about 3 minutes to run around a screen, with very little risk of getting it wrong once you work out the angle to hold it at. It can slip out and can scratch the paint but it's very unlikely. If it does slip it's guided away from the car by the remains of the locking strip. Just be careful when you get to the end.

Is it an old rubber? the rubber hardens with age and wont open vey easily. If thats rthe case I strongly reccomend a new one, preferably the later wider type as it provides a better seal.

Use a lubricant to aid you, washing up liquid, though good for the job, contains salt which is detremental to the bodywork. I use ky or similar >_<

I made my screen tool from an old screwdriver (magnetic bit type) and a bit of bent coathanger.

You need to have it set up so that the filler strip comes into it as per this picture.

The tool needs to be much flatter than in the pic though (its hard to hold it and take a photo!), and with your other hand you can hold the strip parallel to the rubber. I found that with it like that, you could push it along fairly easily, and that the back of the diamond actually pushed the strip in without a roller. I did front and rear stips in about 5 minutes or so using this tool and technique. never done it before either.
