The needle in the kit will be all wrong for a 1275.

yeah sure, but i already fitted it on the 998 so i dont mind about this. Its good to hear that the rest will fit ok.

cannot see the engine number as the engine is not here at the moment. so i guess it will be pretty easy to raise some bhp if it's not a GTa

But you do understand that if you move this needle into a 1275 you may well blow a hole in a piston? Also a properly developed 998 kit would come with a Freeflow manifold which won't work well on a 1275.

Quick Question,

Didn't the Cooper "s"come with the freeflow as standard??

no, the needle stays on the 998 carb. 1275 have its own carb with its own needle

Yes and no, it's not a freeflow as is available now, the cooper was a 3 into 1 freeflow...

Which will be the wrong needle for a 1275 with a stage 1 kit, just as the standard needle in the 998 was wrong for a 998 with a stage 1 kit.

oh, so need another needle to fit a metro 1275 with stage 1?
Minisport have only one needle in there magazine, and it says call for your application. If i tell them i need a needle for a metro 1275 with stage 1 , will they be able to add the correct needle to my order right?

They should be able to give you a needle that will be approximately suitable, but a good session on a rolling road is really the only way to get the perfect needle choice.

1275cc sprite and mayfair 1992 onwards = 50 bhp

1275 GT = 59 bhp

mainstream cooper (carb) = 61 bhp

1.3i cooper = 63 bhp (although this is belived to be a lie by some people)

Mpi mini = 63 bhp (all models)

origional cooper 1275 S = 76 bhp

1.3i S cooper = 77 bhp

mainstream cooper S (carb) = 78 bhp

Mpi cooper S = 86 bhp

Mpi cooper S works = 90 bhp (again belived to be a bit of a lie)

so you see the GTis actually the second "least" powerfull 1275cc engine, who ever told you different is talking arse gravy :P

austin 1300gt as fitted to mine, twin hs2's, 9.75:1 compression, double valve springs and 70ish hp a common transplant into a mini. ps not a 1275gt engine

iv only got a stage 1 kit fitted (upgraded manifold, upgraded single carb, straight through exhaust, modified ignition curve and k&n filter and mine is developing 65BHP, its more than enough to leave the so called 'boy racers' standing with their jaw open, is quite amusing actually when they have spend £000's on body kits etc and they get minced by a mini:)
