this is my first attempt at making an underseat speakers board for my mini

i used some 6mm thick mdf which cost £1 cut to size

and 2 Vibe Slick 6X9's from halfords for £40

once i had cut the circle in the middle i got cutting the holes for the 6x9's then after abit of pursuasion i got them in :D

then fitted them into the mini and tested them out, they were ok the the bass was really flat so it was back to the woodyard for more mdf, so i could enclose the 6x9's in a box the 10 pieces i needed cost £1.50

1 box made and glued to the back of the board

2nd box made and glued

Just waiting for it to dry now should be done about 10 then i can fit it :D

i left it overnight to properly dry, i tried to fit it but the box's were about 5mm too big but they wen 3/4 the way under the seat so they stuck out 3 inch so i thought it would be easier to just jet a stip of mdf 3inch high rather then to play about trying to get it to fit or making another box so heres the pics of it fitted, yes i know its tatty but it will look great with carpet on

Wouldnt you get better sound without the boxes? More airflow etc?

Looks good. Are you going to cover them with something, or paint them, or leave them as they are?

I can't see how you are going to fit them under the seat, please show us the installed pic.

Not necessarily,.. It's all dependent on the speaker etc,.. most come with a suggest Box capacity, if you get the size of the box right, it will improve the sound very efficiently.

I can't see how you are going to fit them under the seat

the only probelm i can see is that they will hit the seat,.. as the seat base is not parallel to the floor, it slopes downwards... but lets not assume he hasn't measured this all out.

I look forward to seeing the results...

I'd recommend tacking the wood together as well as just glueing it...

Measure twice, cut once :dontgetit:

Luckily it should be easy enough to modify the boxes to fit :) keep us posted.

i measured it right before but i didnt take into accont the thickness of the mdf would effect the box size

i just put a peice of mdf over the gap so it looks like a box, see original post for pics :dontgetit:
