W186 PAP, I remember it well!
Had it as a loan for a day when my own 96 'S' was in for a service. Interesting comparison. Lots of popping from the twin exhausts as opposed to my single Janspeed. But although 13" look the best, my 12" wheeled car drove better.
As above, mine came with the chassis plate saying 'conversion number 76S' and a signed certificate. Just Rover Mini Cooper on the log book.

iirc, the 12 inch wheeled mini was known as just 'Mini Cooper' whereas the 13 inch wheeled ones were called 'Mini Cooper Sport' regardless of whether it had a cooper S works kit fitted or not. so a mini cooper sport is a mini cooper with bigger wheels, wider arches and slightly different trim options, and technically it was slower and didnt handle as well as the normal 12inch wheeled cooper!

In JCG 'S' speak the 12" wheelers were 'Touring'

i would say the condition of the car will have a lot more to do with the value of the mini than weather it's a S or not

the parts to bring it up to S spec can be bought relatively cheaply if someone is looking to make their mini a little faster

I would of thought youd struggle to find the engine and airbox if thats what you mean i might have got a little confused are you thinking of modding the original engine???

Now i have no idea how much you paid for that, but if you got the original paperwork its worth a lot more than a cooper sport or whatelse..
The reg itslef will make it more valuable as it featured in the brochures, and when talking about a classic car i'd expect it to make the value increase even more.

Well done. You have every reason to be proud. Lucky you. Does the V5C not have the name and address of the previous owner?

I have heard that the DVLA will provide a list of all previous owners if you pay them a fee.
