i have a 1275 1993 mini which stutters when accelerating any ideas as to how to cure this?

if its injection:
clogged fuel filter
dirty airfilter,try driving it up and down the road without the air fiter
black pipe has come off ecu
red pipe to throtle body,kinked or come of or even broken completely.

could also be a loose h.t lead????

its actually a carb mini
when accelerating in 2nd gear it will get up to 30 then not speed up any more and the engine makes a 'bubbling' sound
although if i just rev it it doesnt seam to have any problems. i have also noticed that having the choke in or out has no effect and has to turn over a couple of time before it fires

Carbon fouled plugs as a result of a too rich mixture?

I know mine use to stutter quite a bit until i cleaned the plugs up and adjusted the mixture.

Have you got a haynes manual to hand? That'll be able to expalin it better than I can. There's a brass nut on the right hand side of the carb that adjusts the mixture

Be careful though, because a slight turn of the nut equals a big change in the mixture

I've got a 1994 Sprite which has a 1275 Carb. May be problems with damp? Have you checked the condition of your ht leads and cap?

Worth checking your plugs as well.

Have cleaned the plugs and taken off and put back on the leads I have also put in some more oil as that was low but has made no difference

What were the plugs like before you cleaned them? Maybe a clue to the problem from the state they were in.

they were coated in black soot that came off easily

It does sound like carbon fouling.

What did you clean the plugs with?

You've got to make sure you get all the crap off the electrodes. Use a squirt of brake cleaner and some wet and dry paper and give them a really good going over. Especially in the gap.

Now put new plugs in and no joy:( as I put my foot down it looses power then stalls
