As said above,

Go to your local A.V. shop, if you speak to them they can tell you what would be best, and if your nice you could even get yourself a bit of discount by being cheeky and just asking for it.

there's too many bloody places selling TV's these days, i even saw ALDI selling a tv a while back.

and what do they offer? nothing, if it breaks, then its broke and thats that.

GO and support your local independant stores, they'll offer you generally better deals, and customer service, and can always be contacted to get something fixed if it ever went wrong without having to pay extra.

our local panasonic and general electrical independant place had a B-Grade sale.

by 'B-grade' it meant a perfect tv in a bit of a tatty box.

so go and see them, you never know what savings you could make if you just go and ask.

It will still be covered under the Sale of Goods Act. Legally, a TV is reasonably expected to last five years.

Not always the case especially int he financial mess this country is in at the moment. Best offers are on the internet. Even the bigger retailers such as Comet and Currys have more offers on their website than in store.

Bigger companies can usually do better deals/offers/discounts because they buy in bulk whereas local independent stores may by 10-20 at a time. But seriously try looking online. There are websites that are cheaper than currys and comet yet are actually Sister companies of the two retailers. They will always mention 'Cheaper than currys' etc and might even show a price comparison. This is so you think 'great cheaper than Currys, I'll buy this one and get it delivered'. Currys/Comet still get the money and still make their gain due to the high mark up on their sets in store.

Take this for example; http://www.comet.co....NIC-TH-50PZ80BA

The 80BA is one of the best plasma's on the market. We buy these in bulk, 1000 at a time. As a result they cost the company £800 EACH.
That link above is a 'sale price' of £1300 reduced from £1330. Thats still 80% profit!! And I'd imagine that Comet/Currys possibly get them cheaper than £700 per item due to ordering millions.
I have seen the 80BA online for just under £1000 which is a hell of a deal.

Independent stores aren't your best bet. You might get better service, but you WONT get a better deal.
