I just bought a Mini Thirty (1989). According to the brochure the car should be equipped with a Phillips R570 (security coded) radio. But mine has a Phillips R552. I don't have any code for the radio but I'm wondering if this model is security coded.

I have been looking in various web sites providing codes and the R552 is not listed, so I'm guessing it is probably not coded.

Can anybody provide me with some advice?

Thanks

On a radio of this age and particularly a Rover standard equipment one, if it's coded then when it is first turned on it will remain muted for 5 seconds or so and say 'CODE' on the display while it checks whether it's been unlocked or not.

This page from my Rover I.C.E. booklet probably proves that your stereo isn't coded?: -

Strange that it doesn't have the R570 radio though?

Thank you! As you say, I think it proves it's not coded. Does the pages relating to the R552 mention anything relevant? If possible, can you post them for me.

Thanks again.

Well I already had those pages above scanned and provided on the Mainstream Mini Cooper Register, but only the ones that were relevant which included the R570 Radio Cassette.

But if you give me a few days, I could scan the pages on the R552 and send them to you.

So PM your e-mail address and give me a few days to sort things out (dig out my manuals mainly).
