my sister bought a 99 ka about 5 years ago and is happy with it. nothing ever goes wrong on it but she did buy a low miles, fully serviced one from a reputable ford dealership that my dad has dealt with all his life so maybe she was lucky?

My girlfriend used to have one until she was crashed into.
Good on fuel, nippy, similar to a mini without the charm (
waits for heckles for the comparison).
Only thing i would worry about is the brakes. They seem to not be very responsive even when fully depressed. Maybe not enough pressure but this happened in all 3 KA's i have driven (girlfriend's and her 2 mates cars).
Don't know much about rust because my girlfriend's was an 04 reg. They do get tappety mind but still run fine.
Overall i'd say they are a good, cheap little run around. Bit noisy because they are tinny but what little car isn't.

A friend of mine has a 4 year old Ka with 17k on the clock.
Failed MOT on
It also started leaking trough the bulkhead on the drivers side.....been to Ford with it twice charged £90 each time for the privalidge and it still leaks!
I'll stick with the mini ta!

main faults with the ford ka, depending on year.
power steering rack fail.
bottom arm rubbers fail.
very noisy front struts.
front strut top bearing fail.
heater stops giving out hot air.
rear wheel bearing fail.
bit of a delay when you press the brake pedal.
spark plugs rust up and snap off when trying to remove.
tappity engine.
sump rusts and leaks.
sills rust fast.
poor paint ( easy chips)
look at ford ka webforums to see the most common faults.
some one said they are over priced, under £6000, what other cars can you get for that price new?

I have one as a courtesy car at the moment while my mini is having some work done, and I do find the brakes are *poop poop*, I passed 2 junctions accidentally!!! Not a patch on a mini anyway.
