Hi,

I'm in the process of fitting a turbo engine into the mini so have bought a solid subframe mounting kit to harden things up. Also i'm putting a fibre glass flip front on.

At the moment i have cut the old front end off and am about to fit the brace bars. Whilst i do this i figure it's best not to move the mini about too much as it's lost a little strength by not having the front.

What should i do about fitting the solid subframe mounts? should i do them before putting the brace bars on, or should i do the brace bars first? If i do the brace bars first will the holes line up correctly when i've put the solid mounts on as the solid mounts wont compress like the rubber ones.

Has anyone done this before? or can let me know whats best?

surely u cant drop the subframe to put the solid mounts on if the brace bars are fitted?

I know, i was thinking of fitting the bars and then drilling the holes in the inner wing to fix it. then they will be in place for the subframe as it is at the moment. when i remove the bars and put the solid mounts on will they sit at exactly the same height as the rubber ones? if not the holes in the inner wing may not be accurate, if that makes sense, and might need redrilling.

do the subframe mounts then do the brace bars the car wont warp whilst inbits unless the engine in the frame and ur driving it lol as long as you brace it shud be fine going this route myself but im gonna fit brace bars from the supension mounts and one from the top of the inner wing as im paranoid about crashing it with a flip front

Cheers, I didn't think i should warp too much. So would it be best to take the engine out first? it has to come out at some point anyway so the new one can go in.

I'd do the brace bars last. I think that you'll need the car on it's wheels with all the weight of the engine on it. This way the subframe will be sitting naturally when you line up the brace bars.
