i have finally got my engine running with much help from this site but have now encountered a new problem.
i have searched the forums and found quite a bit of info on the pre-verto and verto clutches but not quite my answer.
basically i have a mg turbo engine, early one, and have fittted the short arm plunger and slave that comes down the flywheel housing as appose to top of the flywheel housing.
if all is pre-verto(diaphram) inside the clutch bell housing what do i need to work it on the outside? i mean why do you have to have the long arm and slave cylinder on top of the housing? hope someone knows what i mean.
cheers

Yes you need a long arm and pre-verto clutch slave..
Obviously the clutch is not original to the engine as all turbo's had verto clutchs.

thanks for that little gem.. i must have a verto clutch then as i am confident that the engine is standard but i have had certain things off it and i have a few engines knocking around so couldnt remember which clutch arms and plungers etc came off this perticular turbo engine.hello all.

it has a pre-engaged starter on it that works fine . if this is the case however why do you suppose the throughout nuts are pretty much against the flywheel housing at rest. i would assume the plunger with the throughout nuts is meant to be stuck out and then moves inwards towards the flywheel housing as the clutch pedal is depressed!
