[Mini_Magic]

I was lost for words when I read this in the news paper today. Do these mums really believe that a child seeing someone without a arm is going to scar them for life?

That is sickening and really offensive. What planet are these people on? Do they keep their children locked up in case they see something untoward in the big scary outside world? Pathetic. I hope she doesn't leave her job or feel she has to because of these pathetic people. You have to feel sorry for the kids with parents like this!

THIS is in the local paper today... a cafe has banned pushchairs because they get in the way.. one mother said:

"I think it's discrimination towards mothers."

No it isn't, you stupid bint, it's common sense. ARGH!

kids don't question things like this they just except it at their age

The same parent allow their kids to play violent and shoot them up games.

So it is okay to kill people and see dead mutilated bodies, but not armless ALIVE people .

Maybe they have nothing else to do!!

very very sad we have 5 kids ( aged 6, 13, 13, 13, 16,) and hide nothing from them with in reason ie over 18 stuff

they are well educated, polite, well manered, but by no means angels, but above all else KIDS that are able to make up
there OWN minds

if they say to me "look at him dad whats wrong with him "about a disabled person or some one a bit different i'll tell them to go ask them

i really feel sorry for the kids and the parents what will these kids be like when they grow up and go out into the big wide and scary world (it's not disney land out there LOL)

like some one on the post said what would these parents do if THIER child lost a limb in an accident
hide them away so not ofend others NO

they would be the first to winge and moan that there kids were then treated un fairly

when kids are young they should mix with others ie disabled pepole from other cultures old folk
it gives them a better out look at the diverse world we live in and being only kids they will exept people for who they are
not on disabilities class race or culture

and all kids (teenagers ) should be made to watch jeramy kyle so they can see what happens if you dont get a good education and have resect for others

this nanny state we live needs to change and soon

the primary shool that all our kids went to has a motto "TAKE PRIDE, GIVE RESPECT"

and i proud to say all our kids do (proud dad talk)

I'd probably do a bit of research and go for she was in a nasty accident and got badly hurt, but luckily the Doctors and Nurses saved her.

I was at Buckingham Palace for the Paralympian Reception last night, and the guests were absolutely the nicest bunch of people ever, more then happy to share their experiences and chat, and lovely to be around.

I think these parents need to wake up to the fact that not everyone is the same, having an obvious disability should be seen not as something to hide or be ashamed of, but as something that makes people unique, interesting, and beautiful.

We can only hope that today's kids seeing Cerrie, will grow up to be more accepting of people's differences.

All good points, very well made.

When I was young my Dad was heavily involved in the Phab club (Physically Handicapped and Able Bodied it stood for at the time, they have since dropped the word handicapped) I spent a lot of time there a a nip, and it really helped to put things in perspective, I would say this has also helped me in my adult life.

Children should not be shielded from this sort of thing, this is what creates prejudice. Of course they will be curious but it is the parents duty to fill their kids with knowledge not fear. The more exposure they have - the more they realise that it is a normal part of life.
