well mines got plenty of Rust, it's always Steaming up and there is a Puddle in the foot well, so she may have a point

yes, the ERA turbo was one of the things that John Cooper used to help persuade rover that a new cooper could be possible.... if they could put the 1275 engine in that why couldn't it work in a cooper ????

and yes, i believe ERA were just one of the many "consultants" who helped with the development

Perhaps so, but she was still a cow. LOL

Well Cooper was working wonders with Rover Japan and those performance kits of his. Plus Graham Day who took over Rover in the mid 1980's vetoed the death of the Mini and being a Mini and 'Italian Job' movie fan, probably didn't need much persuasion to bring back the Cooper.

I'd love to know what old Donald Stokes thoughts would have been on that matter and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that back in 1990, a Mini enthusiast got Stokes to sign the cover of a motoring magazine which had 'The Return Of The Mini Cooper' plastered across it.

It must have been like saying a rude word to Mary Whitehouse. LOL
