I'm sure if you had a search round on ebay you'd be able to find it, so no point in being coy about it! I paid £1170 for the car and £80 to get it recovered. It's worth that to me for the frame, Allspeed bottom arms, tie bars, and pedal box and I can make a bit back by selling the rest on - the shell is way better than a lot I've seen too, so it's all worked out pretty well.

Thats a pretty good price - I would be happy with that.

I decided I didnt want to wait around for all the stuff - so when I phoned allspeed earlier to confirm the subframe order, I added a few bits. The plus side now is that I will have everything I need in one go to crack on with the project. I just need, next month, to sort out the inlet manifold and some r1 carbs from Bogg brothers. (I had to put that on hold for a month after spending so much with Allspeed....)

*raises hand*

I've got some R1 carbs that I'm contemplating flogging in favour of some TBs (or even the standard injection). ;D

Mr Matt, may I ask that if you do consider selling these items, please put me at the top of the list?

I happen to have a comlete injection unit that I have removed. It could do with a bit of tidying up but everything is there including the airfilter...

I also have what I think is a complete wiring loom, so if you need any of that you are more than welcome to it. Also, I have a Bosch ECU to run the whole lot if you need it.

I've already got all of the standard kit, but I'm doing a C16XE anyway so it'd be no good, but thanks for the offer. :(

As for the carbs. I need to have a think, but I'm pretty certain it's the right way to go for now. Standard injection, Mantzel or Dbilas inlet and a decent exhaust setup should see me getting nearer to the 130bhp mark anyway. With the R1 kit I'd have to use my Megajolt and do some fabricating, which at the moment is a time/cost penalty I'd like to avoid. All I need to get her running is a decent inlet manifold (I've got the standard restrictive one ATM).

I'll give you a shout though.

Well recent progress has been limited...Its frustrating waiting for stuff but I know Allspeed will do a good job. Rob has already been more than helpful.

However, I have de-rusted the grooved and vented pads Im going to be using, and started sanding down the roll cage - it takes so long by hand. Oh well.

Ill post some pics when I get the roll cage fully sanded and repainted.

Im going to try and have the engine all checked and cleaned up, and probably painted ready to go in.

Also, on the plus side, I have a mate that has said that he can try and help me with a respray - if he doesn't have time he will lend me the equipment. Could be interesting - but he has done an MGB and it turned out ok.

I cant wait to really get stuck into it.

Oh yeah - and I've just sourced some R1 carbs....cheers Matt!

At last.

After a cancelled order with Allspeed, I have found one elsewhere at a very good price.

So after BH2N I can start on with that.

Finally I might start making some progress now.!

Well after the BH2N Run this year, it has given me new enthusiasm for the project.

However, the crash has meant I cant afford the subframe for another month which is somewhat inconvenient.

I have started removing all the underseal that was plastered all over the egnine bay, where I have found some inevitable rust. It all appears to be surface rust though so not a real problem.

A week off work in November should allow me to make some decent progress...and in the meantime its just going to be doing all the boring bits like clearing the underseal, sanding the rollcage etc, and generally just looking around for bits.

Change of plans.

I have been thinking for a bit now about the project. Although I do like Clubmans, I love the round-nose more, with a MK1 grille. They just look awesome.

I dont want an extended round nose and so to make it all fit I have decided to go for a supercharger on an A-series rather than vauxhall power. This also means I can crack on with stuff sooner as I already have a good subframe etc..

Anyway, this means I will soon have some bits for sale.

PS - Can a mod move this to the relevant section now please...

Didnt you think about fitting the xe in a round nose? It definately can be done.

Interesting..

Surely there must be a lot of modification that is needed for it to work properly?

I think some of the guys using amt frames managed to get them in under standard roundnoses(maybe with a small buldge) an there's people with customs frames they made themselves hat have worked too.

If you can't get a 2.0 to fit, how about the 1600 16v?

A high powered A series will cost just as much to build, yet will have questionable reliability and poor fuel consumption
