Sprites where carbs until about late '94/'95ish so wouldn't have come fitted with an immobiliser, only injected sprites.

yeah i know, mine is an injected sprite though, and it doesnt have a factory fitted immobiliser on it? yet it still has this box! could it of been an optional extra on the sprite? or should i be ringing the previous owner and asking a few questions as to where its gone?

you could disconnect it and see what happens!!

not if its connected to the ECU, that only spells disaster!

That box is indeed the immobilser and depending on your car / ECU / immob set up may or may not be a coded system to the ECU...
