This is on e-bay. It's a bloke from Kerry in Southern Ireland. He just stuck a 1968 reg onto a 90's car. I checked the reg and it's not on the system either. His asking is 7000euro (£6420). I mailed him about it and he says that it has just gone through a 5 year complete rebuild (5 minutes more like, screwing on reg plates). He must think all Mini's are the same since day one and isn't blessed with the appreciation of the generation of sliding windows and external door hinges.
This man deserves to have his inbox filled with questions about hydroelastic suspension and drum brakes all round.

also considering the price and "no stone unturned " restoration you'd think the engine bay would be tidier looks a right mess

"This car carries a payment on delivery policy As this car is a 1968 model there is always the risk of something going wrong. As the car is in perfect condition at the point of sale the seller cannot be responsible for any breaks. The seller will help to out source parts if the need arises." :)

So can he source me a new car when this one falls to bits?

that is shocking :D

I've asked him if he's made a mistake on the year as there is no way it's a 68 mini..

the bit about leaks makes me laff as all the brown rusty water marks tell a different story.

Hi I noticed you said the vehicle was a 1968, does the car still retain the drum brakes all round or have these been modified to take discs. It appears to be an 1980s bodyshell, has the vehicle been re-shelled? Also has the engine been changed? It appears to be an A+ unit and not inkeeping with the 1968 year.

Thanks in advance.

Thats the message I sent him. Nothing about that is 1968.

Just to add, there is nothing to say that this car hasn't been reshelled at a point in time many years ago when the practise wasn't illegal.

You're also forgetting that it's Irish, they may have different regulations regarding vehicle registration... but importing into the UK, surely this would need to be re-registered by the DVLA, and subject to a VIC, at which point you would be seriously scuppered...
