Were the rings correctly gapped, I assume there was damage to the bore?

Nope

Test fitted the new rings to it today to check the gap and the oil scraper is extremely tight, must get a new feeler gauge to sort it out.
Whats the best way to file the rings?

Wasent too bad, managed to get a new set of pistons cheap enough and the bore seems fine so fingers crossed when its all back together il have 1000's of miles of care free driving..............haha

Sorry to hijacl your thread but I have had a very similar problem with one of my pistons in my 1380. While having it appart I have noticed that the centre main bearing is nackered and it apears the cap has warped due to the heat its created while its been nackered. So it has been suggested the cheapest way to get it all fixed would be to bore out a new block with good bearing caps ( which I have a spare one of).
How do you go about sorting out the compression ratio?
Is it likely that a standard 1275 engine will need some of the deck skimming off to get the compression right, as I currently have powermax pistons with 9cc of dish and a ported head? I ask as if I will need to skim the block too then it may be cheaper to pay out for having the block line bored knowing that the compression was ok before I had to take it all to bits.
