Hi,

If poss, it would be great for you to register, it just gives us a better idea of how many are coming and stuff, also depending on how many hits we get on the site the site owners also give us extra cash for Breast Cancer Care, if you have a large group or would like to talk to me direct my number is 07967 044 327.

Cheers,

Jim

Just registered, so we'll be there.

This run has nothing to do with previos runs like the 2000 and 2001 runs does it?

Is there a plaque in the goodie bag?

No, and thats partly the reason for me doing it the other two where done from people outside Blackpool and there have been none since apart from a wholy owned bMini one - which is fine apart from our Mini want welcome, so yeah thats that really. If it turns out ok it would be nice to make it an annual thing, just see how its goes I guess.

As for plaques, yes there ordered on the old credit card - thats partley why I hope there is a good turnout.

I will be putting up some hotels on the website today or tommrow if anybody is brave enough to make a weekend of it.

Jim

As expected. Total lack of organisation and foresight  . Registration 6 o'clock. Got there at 5 past and all the placks had already gone  yet cars kept turning up, so what was the 6 o'clock all about and why so few plaques  A combination of instructions that weren't that clear for those who don't know thier left from right and the assumption that the person in front knows where they are going ended up in the pressetion being broken up into around groups of between 2 and 5, though got longer as everyone found each other. Choked on several badly tuned engines fumes.

This was no different to the 2000 and 2001 runs, dissorganised

The highlight of the event, excluding the extra curricular activities, was the stop at the McD's on the way home for a p@$s and a large fries. :dontgetit:

Though, it was for charity after all :cheese: and I did my bit

Hope every one else enjoyed the atractions before and the partying afterwards

I personally had a really good time and think that these things are generally what you make them. Everyone I met before the run in the pub / car park were lovely and friendly and the atmosphere was great.

As far as I can see a lot of effort went into arranging this, and it was for a good cause that i know is very close to home for some people. I think the reason they ran out of plaques is because a lot more people turned up than they were expecting because not everyone had registered online, so unfortunately there were not enough plaques to go round.....but why would you want one anyway?? It would only remind you of the terrible time you had and the disorganisation you mentioned.

Have you ever tried to arrange something like this yourself? Or do you just like to turn up at these things and then criticise the effort that others put in?

We managed to get totally lost with about a dozen mini's following us who did assume we knew where we were going - something that seems to happen to us on every mini run we go on!!! But that just added to the fun and we managed to get there eventually, plus a lot of other minis had waited for us which was really nice of them so we had quite a good convoy going. We had the top down, so it got a bit scary in some areas with stag do's accosting us and trying to jump in the back etc but again it made it quite unforgetable....as did the fact that clares brakes went completely.

Thanks to Blackpool minis and Touring all points for arranging this, I would be interested to know how much money was raised and how many minis actually turned up in the end....see you next year xx

Hi Sprocket,

Thanks for that, we tried, we made mistakes but hopfully if we run it again we may learn from our mistakes.... the most inportant thing though is we rasied over £1000 for Breast Cancer Care, some people loved it some people got lost and thus the blame will always come back to us.

The only way we could be proimsed of a stright run through with Illuminations traffic is with a police escort, which we could of sorted quite easliy.... however I dont think my creidt card could manage the £1000 bill we would have to foot.

As for the plaques yes I completly got the numbers wrong and should have ordered more, I hold my hand up to that... all I can say is sorry .....

laters

Hey!

We were doing a 'coast to coast' charity run this weekend with a local club, and went to Blackpool on saturday night. We weren't told, so it was a nice surprise to turn up to the Red Lion and see all the Mini's!! (mine was the very noisy purple Clubby with the s/c box etc if anyone saw me?)

The instructions on how to get to the prom from the pub were great, its just a pity that a lot of people followed the person who went right at the first roundabout.....

Once we sussed the right way it was a piece of cake getting to the promenade, but there was so much traffic, it must have taken an hour and a half to get to the tower from the start.

But I really enjoyed it! Although it was quite disorganised, it was nice to go be there, rather than there be no event at all

Thanks to the organisers, and thanks to all the Mini owners who had fun despite the problems!

Tom
