sounds like your oil pressure relief valve may be stuck...

It's behind the domed nut on the front of the block, undo, remove spring and you should be able to remove the little thimble valve with your little finger.

If not it's stuck... which will give erratic oil pressure

After you've removed the cover bolt and spring, one of those magnet on a stick type thing.

minispares reccomend screwing a tap into it to pull it out

All sorted thanks for all replies,i got the plunger out by tapping a piece of plastic rod into the plunger and simply pulling it out.I wrapped some insulation tape round the rod to make it a tight fit.Now i`v got normal oil pressure.Ordered a ball bearing and new spring and a adjustable oil pressure valve thingy.
