Was looking out my window today at my mini shining away in the sun and couldnt help but want to drive her, luckily a friend of mine who is 22 had nothing to do and wanted to get out of her house so offered to come for a drive with me as i needed someone with me due to only having a provisional, so she picked me up at about half 5 and we spent the last 2 and a half hours driving everywhere of interest (trying our best to avoid those evil big speed bumps!)

We eventually ended up at Krispy Kremes, for those of you who havent been there before, go there! its an amazing doughnut and cake place. not healthy but hey it tastes good so! ;D

while i was there i couldnt resist getting a snap of the mini in the carp park dwindling in the huge parking bay.

so yeah attached is my picture and this is just a post asking who has had krispy kremes before? and advising everyone who hasnt to go there!

oh and also i discovered my car and me dont like train lines as the mini is too bumpy, oh and when they put speed bumps in speed barriers so you have to take the bump diagonally, makes my exhaust scrape the floor as i havent quite mastered this technique :) lol

i love the way the law works... an unqualified driver can go out with a relatively inexperienced 22 year old driver in a car with no duel controls and it's perfectly legal. strange but unfortunately true. >_<

it's a strange world >_<

As long as the 22 year old's been legal for a minimum of 3 years isn't it?

Anyway, she could be a reaaaaaaaaally experienced 22 year old! :P

Just wait until you get to go out for nice drives on your own, it's grrrrrrrrrrrrreat! :D

the passenger has to of had 3 years experience, so if after 3 years your not a good driver you shouldn't be driving really.

but yeah theres a few krispy kremes in england, mainly down south i believe!

I don't understand the problem you have with that law, how much more experience can you get after 4 years? You could become a bus driver straight after passing your driving test with no years driving experience and be in charge of 100+ peoples lives at 18 so 21 to take a learner out seems harsh to me if anything. I'm no better or worse a driver after 6 years than I was after 1. My mum for example can hardly reverse and won't go on a motorway and she has been driving for 30 years. What would you change it to? 10 years, 20 years before you can have a learner with you, driving instructors have to be over 30? I can sort of see your point about duel controls though.

Glad to see you had fun anyway, wish I had some donuts >_<

I think the law is a good one, but like any law can be silly given the right people. stupid idiots in silly cars can cause problems, but if u feel an issue with a learner being near you without deal controls then just avoid them. we have to display our L plates anyway so people like you can relax n stay back.

I've been driving for a few months and would of taken my test months ago had i had the opportunity, I see many people driving who i know should not have passed. for example just the other day a i was pulling out of a side road in my driving instructors car onto a 40MPH dual carriageway when a rover behind me illegally overtook me when i pulled out (he went on other side of road and came round the side of me to sit infront of me) and then raced ahead of me so he could then stop about 50 metres down the road to park. Yes i am a learner but driving instructors rarely do things they dont think they're students can do so the man was just arrogant to think it was worth overtaking to stop me.

A newly qualified driver is likely to have a better idea of the current driving test and fewer bad habits. If it really is a bad idea, there'd be be hard evidence in accident statistics and insurance premiums would make it impractical even without the law.

I think you have to be 21 for a PSV licence.

i don't know, i just think it's a funny one, i guess maybe i think you should only be driven by a qualified instructor with a duel control until you pass.

and yes, that is what i did

anyways, it's going off topic now >_< sorry

You are correct it is 21 to have a psv licence. I would rather drive a mini then a bus though!

I brought the bus thing up because a girl who drives a bus I get only looks about 19 if that and a few other lads that drive it don't look over 21. I had a look here Direct Gov

I'd take that as saying you have to be 18 but 21 if carrying passengers (which I missed when first looking) so I was semi wrong.

Anyway, just looked on Krispy Kreme website and they have them in Manchester, I might go get a box tomorrow at dinner :P
