Exactly, why take the easy option??

I've been looking at the vmax supercharger kits!!

Mmmmmm

Yeer i was looking at those aswell and they do look very very tempting! but i think ill do this 1st and then think about forced induction later.

to get it ran in i will more than likey use a HIF 38 as i have a couple lying around.

but..

i would like to run it on a weber after its ran in.

im my mind i think the weber 40 would be best??

or could it evn stretch to a 45?

is there an optimum manifold for a small bore??

or is a good midway a 5" manifold with bulkhead box??

To be honest i can imagine the Webber being a bit of an Over Kill, for the 998, or 1096 if over borring.
Ive looked at this and i wreckon you can get very good performance from Twin Su's

some people say over kill but i know of quite a few people on here who are running small bore engines on webers.

the main reasons i want a weber on it is

A. for the noise
B. for the noise
C. and to say i have one.

the slightly lower fuel economy doesnt bother me, or the increased noise.
and if i dont like it, i will have a perfectly tuned SU to go back on and replace it

Yer Fair enough the Noise is something quite incredible! im not going to lie!
Suppose its the same reason i want the S\C drop gears, jsut for the noise! but i still havent taken the plunge...however im looking at them now and my bankcard is in my pocket...hmm

on the ignition side of things i would say go for a 123 insted of the alden.

i found that on my 998 they made alot more difference

i will be going for megajolt when it all comes together.

i have been reading the Yellow Bible and vizard says

that with my sort of spec i can use either a 40 or a 45 Weber.

40:

choke - 33
main jet - 140
air corr - 180
em tube - f16
pump jet - 40
idle - 50f2
aux vent - 4.5

45:

choke - 34
main jet - 150
air corr - 180
em tube - f2
pump jet - 40
idle - 50f2
aux vent - 4.5

having added 100cc (ish) to the engine and aiming roughly for 80ish HP would a 45 still be overkill??

this article has good results with a 40 and a 45 on a modded 998 linky

They came with the block I bought, took a new idler to get them to fit though!

Very similar to mine, only a few differences

998+80

Standard fly/clutch (for now)

12G940 head

Twin Hs2's

3.44 FD

Good luck with it all anyway mate, I've got next week off work to sort mine, hope it's ready for L2B!
