to be honest you should be able to remove whicher ever pully and fit the one off the mini but saying that the central spline/shaft needs to be the right size / shape

And the pulley needs to be on the right side, and the brackets need to be roughly in the right place etc...

Wiring isn't much of an issure, that can be sorted.

land rover defender ones fit, but i cant remember which jag ones fit. the wiring on the landrover ones is usually a 3 bolt fitting but you normally only use 2 of the bolt terminals on the alternator. most of the time you'll find that the more powerful alternators use bolt fitting terminals as its easier to find suitable connectors to cope with the higher current.

i think ive got a suppliers book at work, it has a load of diagrams so its easy to compare fittings etc so hopefully i can work out what you need, otherwise google is your friend, try a search for Delco Remy, Sovereign Rotating Electrics, Valeo etc to see if there is a pdf fitment guide or similar as once youve got a part number whoever you buy from can cross reference it to whichever make they use. the wiring is easy, its the mounting points which need to be right.

Ok thanks, thats a good something to work on.

The wiring part of it is no issue, i can make that work! Its just the mounting points that need to be right, or very close.

It'll be great if you can have look in the book, i kinda need one by next weekend LOL.

cheers

this is the style of alternator im gonna put onto my 998
ones i change the pulley and what not
its from a mid 90's saturn car, sl

its a 1 wire alt
and the plug on the side of the alt goes to the volt gauge

stock is like 105 amps or something like that
and ive seen high output units up to 250amp in this small case gm unit

and its smaller dia then the stock mini alt
but its a bit deeper but they fit

ive seen pictures with them mounted before
on some web sites from the states

BMW cooper S alternator is 120amp and looks as though it'll fit with simple bracket mods.

These guys do a GM (Saturn) conversion kit. Comes with the correct pulley and adapter plug. Pretty common conversion on this side.

Might be a little costly for shipping though.

Did you have them send you one Terry? How well did it fit? Do they require prepayment do you know?

Ive got a 90 amp jobbie off a late 90's Ford Granada. Cost me about £30 off Ebay. Straightforward enough to fit too.
