Hi. Right I would just like to know how fast a 998cc engine with a stage one kit should go. Iv had my mini for about 2 months now and havent really had it going any fast than 50 as it wasnt running to well. I dont really care if its not much quicker than that as I didnt buy mini for speed but I just intested.

a std 998 should sit at 80mph with relative ease, and depending on final drive ratio and if its downhill, should be able to touch 90. A stage 1 kit is unlikely to have much effect on top speed.

wahey! jon from tadley!

I had mine go 87 (measured on the TomTom) yesterday on the motorway, was only for a second, and down hill.

but yeah, mine sits at 70 easily enough. and still can give a bit more.

so definitely fast enough to get to Basingstoke leisure park and back haha.

john.

I had my mini 30 off the clock over 90mph. As most people have said 70 should be quite comfortable for you. 50mph something is wrong!

I know of a mini (not mine obviously) on 10's with a 3.44 final drive, stage 1 kit and a cooper head, hit 88 with no more to give.

Mine sits at 75mph on the motor-way just fine :dontgetit: But I stay at 70mph as I'm a law abiding citizen :)

Thats alright then. Atleast if I get up at 8:30 and have to get to college for 9 like I always end up doing I should be able to get their on time. Really is time I bourght an alarm clock.

Yea their was quite a bit wrong with it. The person I bourgth it from liked to say 'me and my mate did this and me and my mate did that' when to be honist him and his mate had no bloody idea what they were doing. I took it to the garage and they and all started to call it project of the month their was that much to do to it. It also had a 1275 head put on it but has the wrong carb on it. Once iv changed that and had the engine tuned im hoping it will shift a little quicker.

Sit back feeling quite smug that my completely standard 998 with the standard air box, peashooter exhaust, 2.9 final drive and skinny145/70 12” tyres can easily hit a ton. :)

Sounds like you need to get it looked at on a Rolling Road.

Dont want to scare you but you have issues! A good service, time up and oil/filter change did wonders for mine. It would give 80+ with relative ease (off the public highway of course). I had a 1275 head and had to change the carb to a HIF38 with 1275 stage 1 kit to have the full potential. Best of all these things I've suggested won't cost you much over £50 all in for top-end parts! >_<
