sometimes my wipers dont work, and the rev counter stops also.
i think i have a dodgy connection in the stalk, but as yours are new i would say wiring.

I'm not quite in Guildford, I live in Hindhead which is down the A3 from Guildford, just generally easier to say I live in Guildford.

I'm quite sure what to do with this, I've followed the wiring, so unless it's something that I can't see I'm not sure what to do.
Although looking at the wiring in the stalk itself, the rubber stuff around the wire doesnt go all the way up and you can see the actual wire, although this is exactly the same as my old one. I'll take a picture now and post it up.

Where should the two prongs sit? Right now one will be at one end while the other is at the other end... Just looked and sparks are coming off whenever both of the prongs are touching part of the round metal things......... help!

I believe you're right, I've replaced them like that and they are now working (I had to use the spring and gold bit from the new stalk, but use the old stalk because the spring had got so hot short circuiting it had melted some of the plastic around it.
Guess it's a bit of a waste of £30, but oh well, at least it's working now! ...Just as the sun comes out...
Thanks everyone for you're help!
