After a couple of email exchanges about reverse and a few other bits with Darren at Pro-Motive I reckon the R1 could be for me if the reverse is a goer. I'm going to speak to darren again and get up to see him (and his car), in the mean time have a few questions so that I can get it fully spec'd up.

Other than the usual non engine upgrades (brakes, suspension) is there anything else I need to consider or should definately do??

Wheel size, i've always preferred the look of 10's on any mini, anyone persuade me of a reason not to keep with 10's? Roofless I think you had 14's didn't you?

Any good places to get an R1 engine? (other than ebay) I was thinking of the 5JJ, preferably in the south.

Engine upgrades? I'm not really talking performance here but any 'changes' to gearing and the like?

I suspect they'll be more questions so i'll apologise now!

Cheers, Andy

For buying engines check out http://www.theminifo...howtopic=121370

For upgrades your talking big bucks for any internal work done so yeah I'd agree just work on the gearing depending how the car will be used.

With that 5JJ engine I think you should chat with these lot at http://www.tts-performance.com/ near silverstone about setting yours up.

Also nice choice on setup!

I think the only thing againt 10s (I have them on my Pro-mo R1) is lack of traction - geared for medium speed tracks the car spins wheels in 1st and second gear very easily. That said, would do 10s again for the light weight and classic look. For me a front wheel drive Mini isn't a Mini without 10s...
