I wasn't going fast honestly! It was a really thin pillar, about 3 and a half inches so it just sliced in. I'm guessing thats why I didn't see it, I thought I had hit something below the rear screen out of slight till I got out.

It's a 97' cooper sportspack with 40,000 miles on the clock and insured for £5000 so hopefully not written off. I hope not, I've big plans for Miles!
And thanks for the tips about repairs, I'll be all over it with a magnet checking for filler and I'll maybe make a little hidden dent with a center punch to make sure some of my boot floor is replaced.
If I spot anything I'm not happy with I'm an experienced complainer and I'll make a fuss. Just hope he's ok!


book value is 2700, and thats what mr insurance company goes by. if you get an old school engineer he may value it more, as for repair on a jig that will pull out, then replace the rear valance and the boot lid.

its fixable. dont let the insurance company have it.

just gonna take some work to get it bakc again tahst all new boot floor and valance as well as a boot lid just to be safe but shoudl eb able to pull it out and get it lookign fine in no time
