If you take a look around your car, You will see dude. Its not rocket science.

has ne1 got a sub in their boot with standars speakers on the parcel shelf? I want to see if they will break or not

Listen dude, they will break, No questions asked.

Mine are sound because ive boxed them in so they are in a seperate enclosure to the Sub...

Wires will go as followd...

LIVE wire - From live battery terminal, To Amp in boot

Earth Wire - From car earth point in boot, To amp in boot

Remote wire - From Head unit, down behind the dash, Under the carpet at the front down the left hand side of the car, Through the hole in the cross member (along with all the rest of the wiring loom), along and under the rear bench (you will have to drill a hole in the rear bench but it will be out of sight). Then through the hole in the rear "Bulkhead?" (The backrest of the rear seat). Theres a ready made hole there.
Then to your amp.

Then you will need to wire the speaker cable for the sub the same route as the remote lead. if you have a dual phono sub cable, theres usually a remote lead built into the center of the two phono cables.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure about all together breaking but it certainly won't do them much good, unless you make seperate enclosures for the ones on the parcel shelf, which is very do-able.

That thin wire in between the two rca's is actual a earth for them, but people always end up using them as remote leads.

right as i said the speakers in the parcelshelf will either break probably not straight away but over time they will or be overpowered by the subs bass waves and just move in time with the bass notes which will make them unaudioble.

Ideally u shouldn't run the cables the way binge has suggested as they will then run right along side part of the main wiring loom for the back of the car and possible cause unwanted noise, HOWEVER if you don't want to cut any holes etc.. in your car this is the route of least resistance.

Its a case of using your imagination.
Some people make fiberglass pods and attach them to the back of a piece of MDF the same size as the rear shelf, Then drop the speakers into that. and then put the whole unit in place on the parcel shelf.

Ive got a boot board kit + Sub on the right, so ive just cut another piece of wood to fit in at the top and carpet'd it.
It finishes the boot of nicely, Completely hides the speakers. and well, it protects them too...

Would it be possible to use some sort of sound proofing material to line under the parcel shelf, to prevent the stock speakers perishing?

Cheers

yes if you raised the stock speakers outta there holes in the parcelshelf and made some pods/spacers for them to fit into on the parcelshelf.

I meant just lining the underneath of the parcel shelf with this material, no pods or that. Would it stop the bass waves?

I doubt any material would stop bass waves. They can penentrate most things.

Your best bet is to raise the speakers out of the shelf with a sheet of MDF, Then cut another parcel shelf from MDF but with no speaker holes in. And the adjust to fit in from the inside of the boot underneath the shelf.

Being lazy me, would it be possible to make this board and fit it without raising the speakers? This is what i want in my boot > Click

i want to keep my car as original as possible so i dont really want to be taking out original parts, if there are any suggestions of placing this somewhere in my car without doing this it that would be great.

Cheers

vibe active sub  not a great bit of kit especially for that money, but you want a active sub. Vibe sortta aim there stuff and the "boy racer", max power market so they impress people by there bummyiness (i know its not a word) they don't give a nice warm bass note with a nice smooth curve, there response is very peaky and hard, not to alot of peoples tastes but go into halfrauds and have a listen to one and see what you think.

i thought the idea was you just wanted a nice small active cheap sub, this vibe doesn't seem to fit any of that spec.
if your choosing it because you don't know how to match subs to amp etc.. then just go for this:
http://www.caraudiod...b53a42f5126ef4d
will take up the exact same amount of space, require the same amount of wiring and although not in a correctly designed box for that sub will sound alot better.

If your going to have a sub you really need to upgrade your standard speakers, you wont hear anything BUT bass!!

id also recommend you put speakers in the front if you dont already have them, you will again here absolutley nothing but bass!

Ideal set up would be some quality 6" speakers in the front where you sit, so you can hear the music because having speakers just in the back especially standard ones will be very unclear because of all the bass!!
