I knew i wasn't going mad. I delved back through the thread, I was sure i had a photo somewhere to show my rear valance. Sure enough i found one showing rubber grommets on the LH side covering up the captive nuts for the fog lamp that would be on the wrong side. (is it possible there was an aftermarket valance that had provision for both sides to have a lamp perhaps?)

Anyway,.. yesterday I keyed the surface of the dent on the rear end that i mentioned, It's quite a soft dent and there's no real impact marks,.. it's as though somebody kicked it, maybe. strange! I think I've got away with a light skim over with some filler,.. and it's shaped up quite nicely. I'll do a bit more work on that and upload a suitably poor photo when It's 'done'.

I just had a look on minispares/sport and it looks like both the heritage and magnum rear valance panels have holes both sides. The only other option is without any holes for a fog lamp.

My rear valance was full of filler that was exposed by sandblasting, like a good 3 or 4 inch size hole!
